In December 2007, SVP formed its initial Board of Directors and engaged an Executive Director.  Since then, we have added several more dynamic, committed Directors, and have recruited an outstanding group of Advisory Board members.  We will continue to add to both boards, and to prepare a detailed budget and roll-out plan.   SVP will sponsor one pilot journalism program at a Los Angeles-area high school for the 2008-9 school year, and conduct a formal research project in conjunction with that program.  SVP may sponsor newspapers at additional high schools prior to the completion of the pilot program and research, but expects to expand more rapidly in partnership with regional and national foundations thereafter.
